Ready to move your on-premise ERP to Azure?

Do you have your own Microsoft Dynamics NAV server with tiring administration processes? Do you currently pay your consultants and IT specialists thousands of dollars to admin your Microsoft Dynamics NAV systems? How far behind is your organization’s your ERP system? Still running Dynamics NAV 2009 due to the difficulty of upgrading your heavily customized Dynamics NAV? Or perhaps you simply want to access your ERP from anywhere in the world?
If you choose a hosted product for your ERP, we will migrate and upgrade your system from on-premise to Microsoft’s Azure Cloud. This potentially is tens of thousands of dollars of work you can forego by choosing cloud deployment for your ERP with us.

How does Microsoft Azure benefit you in moving your ERP?

The major benefit to the customers who are looking to move to the cloud is the get-away from server, networking, and internet costs. Microsoft Azure allows us to create new servers for your company quickly, while also giving access to Microsoft datacenter, world class internet speed and backup/disaster recovery in the event of something happening to your system. You no longer need to invest in hardware, negotiate telco contracts, or worry about the physical requirements of your system (server rooms, climate control systems, access control, etc.).
If you decide to hosted Azure your entire Microsoft Dynamics NAV infrastructure in Azure through us, we can help you choose the optimal type of subscription. For instance, you can save up to 35-40% and more on subscription costs if you reserve some resources for a longer period. We can analyze your territorial, administrative and functional structure and give some advice about your new IT infrastructure. We will explain how it will be managed for no extra cost.

Another benefit for moving you to the cloud is the easiest upgrade to the last actual version of your ERP system. We have years of experience with Dynamics NAV and we are able to move your entire system no matter how customized or how complicated your current setup may be. Sure, we should spend time and take efforts during the first stage when we will analyze your current system and help you to understand how many customizations you have - which old processes could be discontinued, estimate time and labor cost for upgrade services. Finally, you will have the last version of your ERP system ready for easiest future upgrade. But this topic is subject for another article.

How does it work?

Because the road to the cloud is not as straight as it usually is described, we start our project from a system review of your current setup. It could take approx. 1-2 days during which we will diagnose your current setup from different points of view:

• What is the current version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV you are at
• What version of Windows Server and SQL Server you are using
• Which third party add-ins are you running
• Most importantly - how many users access your Dynamics NAV system
• Do you have a Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) subscription currently
• Which no-ERP software do you use now

As a result, you will have detailed proof of concept document with a described Azure configuration, license costs, our services, timeline, and deliverables.
We will then estimate the class (how powerful) of servers in the Azure cloud your company would require. In the most common situation, you will have an Azure SQL Server for your ERP databases and (depending on the user count) a single (or more) Remote Desktop server which your users can connect to for running the application. More complicate setup can consist of additional dedicated application server, reporting server and so on.
We will advise you how to build out the entire cloud environment including the security requirements, to allow your users to login from anywhere and prevent any potential external security threat.
If you agree to have us as a consulting service provider and migrate to the cloud together, we can start your project and manage your subscription, create your user accounts which includes the necessary internal security policies required in the hosted environment. We will deploy the right Microsoft Dynamics NAV version, download copies of your data from the current environment, load it into the hosted servers and walk through the setup. Once the process is completed, we will run some processes and reports in your current Dynamics system to compare with the Azure environment. This makes sure all the data is lined up and ready for users to start using the system in the cloud.
The hosting on Azure could be your first step to the cloud which will lead you to high efficiency and return on your investment. Next, think about upgrading to the last version of Dynamics NAV – Microsoft Business Central to get much more benefits of the cloud subscription. How do you do it?
